Southampton have slapped a staggering £100 million price tag on in-demand winger Tyler Dibling, who been a shining light for the Premier League strugglers this season.
As Southampton prepare for life next season in the Championship, having now found themselves sinking at the bottom in 20th place, 17 points from safety, they may struggle to keep possession of their prized assets.
But anyone who thinks they can snatch up Tyler Dibling on the cheap may have to rethink their options as Southampton have quoted potential suitors to pay more than £100 million for the starlet.
A fresh report from the Telegraph’s John Percy drew a line around both Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur, who will be shunned for any offer below £100m in their pursuit of capturing the left-footed talent.
Manchester United have been involved in the race for Dibling before so if United want to land the youngster they would have to break the British transfer record to seal the signature of Dibling. With that being said, that’s highly unlikely, so here are three players United could pursue for less money.
Bournemouth trickster
Antoine Semenyo has been on the tip of every Premier League fan’s tongue this season. The left-forward has a unique style of directness and takes on everything within his path.
A high-risk, high-reward player that has exploited defences throughout the season. The Ghanian international has contributed seven goals and four assists this season and has been a key factor in why the Cherries sit in a comfortable 10th position in the league.
Semenyo would provide another attacking avenue for United, offering directness in a hope to improve United’s tally of goals for next season. The 25-year-old would be a suitable replacement for Marcus Rashford if he was to move on in the summer window.
Crystal Palace playmaker
United always seem to be linked with a Crystal Palace player, this time last season it was Michael Olise, who eventually moved to Bayern Munich. This season Eberechi Eze has stepped up into that playmaking role which Olise occupied for Palace last season and could earn links to Europe’s elite.
Eze scored against Latvia for England during the latest international break. The 26-year-old has continued to impress at the highest stage and may start to attract the eye of bigger clubs.
Eze would have all the attributes to succeed in United’s line-up. Flair, pace, trickery and an intelligent player who thrives on sensible decision making and playing in tight areas. Goal contributions are not a large part of Eze’s game, however he is a vital player in the build-up to big chances.
England’s all-time leading goal scorer
An eyebrow was certainly raised when Harry Kane chose Germany over Manchester two seasons ago. It looked certain that the talisman would join either United or City when he left Spurs in 2023.
Kane has found the net 57 times for Bayern since joining, picking up the Bundesliga golden boot last season with 36 goals.
The 31-year-old may be tempted by a move back home if Bayern were to win the Champions League – fulfilling his quest of an attempt to win trophies in Germany.

The striker could help provide the perfect balance of youth and experience for United’s strikers as they continuously fail to make an impact. But ideally this move would have to be made now rather than in the coming years as he’s approaching the later stages of his career.
The England all-time leading goal scorer could be just what Amorim’s side need. Realistically though, United would need to win the Europa League to qualify for the Champions League to have any chance of signing Kane.
