Three reasons why Alejandro Garnacho is ‘upset’ and wants to leave Manchester United revealed

Alejandro Garnacho wants to leave Manchester United this summer and a meeting between his representatives and the club is expected in the coming days.

Manchester United ended their campaign on a whimper with defeat in the Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur and attention now turns to how they sort this mess out.

Ruben Amorim and his coaching staff need time to reflect on where they can improve, while the board will be trying to bolster their squad with new signings.

Changes in the existing playing squad need to happen as well, particularly with the need to raise funds being even higher after failing to qualify for the Champions League.

Some controversial exits are likely to happen and Alejandro Garnacho has seemingly helped that with his preference to leave the club.

Garnacho unhappy with three things at United

Garnacho only played 19 minutes in the Europa League final and slammed the decision from Amorim after the game. His brother also posted on social media that he was ‘thrown under the bus’.

He now seems open to an exit and ESPN report that it is ‘increasingly likely’ to happen, with the player’s representatives expected to meet with United chiefs in the coming days.

They are set to discuss a departure for the 20-year-old, who is expected interest from within the Premier League and also in Saudi Arabia. Chelsea and Napoli were both eyeing a deal for him in January.

The report also explained that Garnacho was ‘upset’ with only getting 20 minutes in the final, and also with how Amorim managed the situation around his selection for the game.

Garnacho is also unhappy with the role he has played since Amorim’s arrival, with the Argentine playing slightly more inside as a no.10 rather than an out-and-out winger.

Amorim has adjusted his approach with Garnacho in many games, with the wingback on his side coming inside the pitch and allowing the winger to hold width, but the club are also open to a split with the Academy graduate.

Garnacho sales boosts United transfer kitty

Garnacho was valued at around £60 million during the January transfer window and that price tag would not drop significantly coming into the summer.

Should the Reds be able to receive that amount of money for him, it would be a significant boost to their transfer kitty, which currently allows them to spend around £100 million without any sales involved.

The 20-year-old joined the club in 2020 and would represent ‘pure profit’, which is something that all clubs are striving for right now in the PSR world. That is why Scott McTominay was sold last summer.

While Garnacho has a lot of talent, there have been red flags with him behind the scenes during the tenure of both Erik ten Hag and Amorim, while he has consistently made a stir with social media actions.

His performance levels haven’t matched his attitude, and United should be looking to bring in more ready-made players if they end up selling him in the coming months.
