Amad could be set to receive a new shirt number at Manchester United next season after making a hint on his social media pages.
Manchester United are looking to improve on a dreadful campaign next term but Amad was one of the few players to come out of last season with praise.
The 22-year-old finally had his breakthrough season at Old Trafford and quickly became one of the most important players for Ruben Amorim’s system.
Whether it was in the frontline or at right wingback, Amad managed to produce consistent performances and provide in the final third.
Even though he missed several months of the season through injury, the left-footed attacker registered 11 goals and 10 assists across the campaign.
Three United shirt numbers Amad could receive
Amad will be hoping to build on his performances in an improved United side next season and he could be doing that in a new shirt.
United announced their 2025/26 home kit on Thursday morning and Amad shared a picture of his no.16 shirt on his Instagram story with an hourglass emoji next to the number, suggesting that a change will happen soon.

The Ivorian initially took the no.19 when he arrived at United but then swapped to the no.16 when Raphaël Varane arrived in the summer of 2021.
Should Amad change his number this summer, there are a few different options he could grab next term, including the no.10 – with Marcus Rashford set to leave the club. Although, that seems slightly unlikely, with new signing Matheus Cunha tipped to take that number.
There is room for Amad to swap back to the no.19 as well with the number vacant since Varane’s departure. Another potential option for him is the no.14 after Christian Eriksen’s departure.
Amad will be crucial for United next season
Whatever number he has on the back of his shirt, Amad could be a key player for United next season with the star likely to play more at wingback.
With the potential signing of Bryan Mbeumo ahead of him, it could represent a change in approach under Amorim after we often watched two defensive players operating in those wingback areas.

Amad is an offensive threat and ensuring that at least one of those wide players are able to contribute heavily going forward is crucial if Amorim is to continue playing the same system.
It took Amad a long time to finally break into the United team but he now looks set to contribute heavily to a United side trying to turn their fortunes around.
