Three Man Utd stars agree on Bruno Fernandes’ ‘best moment’ as Ayden Heaven shows true colours, “I just knew…”

Three Manchester United players have agreed on Bruno Fernandes’ best moment so far at the club, with Ayden Heaven showing his true colours.

On Saturday evening, Bruno Fernandes netted his 100th goal for Manchester United, scoring the opening strike in a 2-1 win over Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea.

Fernandes’ goal came in his 296th appearance for the Reds, and he has collected 86 assists in that time, too.

He is one of only five players in United’s history to register both over 50 Premier League goals and 50 Premier League assists, and has no doubt been the best player at the club since Sir Alex Ferguson retired.

Aside from his goal contributions, Fernandes is also now United’s club captain and is well respected by everyone who meets him across the footballing world.

Three United stars agree on his best moment

To celebrate Fernandes’ 100th goal for Manchester United, the club’s media team took the time to ask some of Rúben Amorim’s squad what their best and favourite ‘Bruno Fernandes moment’ has been across his career so far.

Many were named, such as his hat-trick against Real Sociedad, lifting two trophies, or his half-way line goal against Liverpool. But Joshua Zirkzee, Ayden Heaven, and Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu were all in agreement about another striker.

“Free kick against Arsenal was my favourite one, because I just knew it was going in,” Zirkzee commented. The Dutchman, of course, is referring to Fernandes’ brilliant strike against Arsenal at Old Trafford last season, which took the lead just before half-time against Mikel Arteta’s men.

Heaven, who used to play for Arsenal himself, showed his true colours as a United player, selecting the Fernandes free kick against his old club, too. “His free kick against Arsenal last season,” Heaven said.

“Since I’ve been here, probably his goal against Arsenal,” Dorgu, who joined United in January 2025, then concurred.

There’s much more to come from Fernandes

Bruno Fernandes turned 31 years old at the beginning of the month, but he has shown no signs of slowing down or giving up at Old Trafford.

The Portugal international turned down a £100 million three-year contract offer from Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal last summer. When asked about his decision to stay at United, Fernandes said last month that he hadn’t yet achieved his dreams with the club.

“I haven’t fulfilled my dreams here yet,” Fernandes told Sky Sports in August. “I think I can still give something to the club. I think I’m still in a position where I’m helpful, so I will be here until the club decides it’s time to go.

“I know it was tough on the club to decide that because it was a big amount of money that the club had never got in the past. Probably since Cristiano [Ronaldo] left [in 2009] that they got so much for a player.

“I know, for the club, it was tough to decide because on one side they had the club captain, a player who has been important for them even if at times I’ve not been great. I’ve been performing and everything, I know the public eye will be bad if things go wrong. But it will be very good if things go well if they sell me and get more players.

“In my mind, I’ve always said, this is the place where I want to be. The dream of coming and playing in the Premier League, for me, is the biggest league in the world. I want to fulfil my dreams of staying here and winning more things with the club.”
