Thomas Tuchel addresses Bayern Munich future amid Manchester United links
Thomas Tuchel has addressed his future at Bayern Munich following reports that he is on Manchester United’s shortlist to become the next manager at Old Trafford.
Tuchel, 50, has been linked to the job at United for several weeks now, with Erik ten Hag’s future under INEOS in doubt.
However, the first links from reliable English media came on Friday, with Times reporter Matt Lawton stating that the German manager is on a list of managers under consideration at Old Trafford should the club decide to part ways with Ten Hag.
Lawton was particularly reliable for INEOS during the takeover saga, and so the links are beginning to receive more attention.
Tuchel recently claimed that he is “not influenced” by reports at the moment, with his Bayern Munich side preparing for their second-leg against Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-final.
However, the United-linked manager has since clarified that his Bayern Munich departure remains after rumours that the Bundesliga club would try and convince him to stay due to the lack of managers on the market.
When asked if there was a possibility he could stay on, Tuchel told reporters: “This is an agreement, so this can’t be changed.
“Well, you can change every contract by mutual consent because we had a contract as well and then we agreed on ending it early, so everything is possible.
“But the answer is the same: the agreement stands, and the agreement exists.”
Tuchel departed Chelsea at the beginning of last season after they went through their own change of ownership.
Ten Hag’s future will reportedly not be clarified until after the club’s FA Cup final clash against Manchester City at the end of the month.
