“I like him…” Thierry Henry has told Manchester United fans exactly what to expect from Leny Yoro
Thierry Henry, the French legend, has told Manchester United fans what they should expect from new signing Leny Yoro.
Manchester United are set to announce the signing of 18-year-old centre-back Leny Yoro in the coming days, having successfully hijacked Real Madrid’s deal.
Erik ten Hag and his team have been on the lookout for centre-half reinforcements this summer, following a disappointing 2023/24 season in which they conceded over eighty goals across all competitions and finished eighth in the Premier League.

In need of reinforcements, United took a chance on signing the 18-year-old prodigy, who had been widely expected to join Madrid.
However, breaking news on Wednesday morning confirmed that the Old Trafford club managed to convince Yoro to fly to Manchester to undergo his medical and sign a five-year contract until 2029, with an option for a one-year extension.
Yoro is set to complete his final medical examinations on Thursday morning. In the afternoon, he will sign his contract, finalizing his £52 million move from Lille.
Speaking to Le Petit Lillois earlier this year, former France and Arsenal striker Thierry Henry said that although Yoro is a brilliant professional, he is young and may make mistakes, but fans should trust him to develop into a brilliant talent.
“We often talk about Leny,” Henry explained. “He is having an exemplary start to his career. To establish himself in Lille as he is doing… He always has some young reactions, and that is completely normal.
“It comes slowly, you make mistakes, and sometimes you get embarrassed. (But) he goes on to play one match after another. He starts quite often and quite often is good. It’s really good for him.
“He is professional, he’s a good guy, well-educated. I like him. He performs well. Afterwards, there are always things to refine, but that’s completely normal. Frankly, it’s really a more than positive progression.”
It is expected that United will announce the signing of Yoro in the next few days ahead of their friendly fixture against Rangers on Saturday afternoon. He will be available to fly with the squad to the USA on their pre-season tour next week.
