Thibaut Courtois explains two standout traits Senne Lammens will bring at Manchester United, one is extremely important

Belgian goalkeeping hero Thibaut Courtois has explained the two standout traits his fellow countryman Senne Lammens will bring at Manchester United.

Manchester United made four major signings in the summer transfer window, and the frontline was their major priority to improve.

Along with the attacking signings of Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Šeško, the Reds brought in Belgian goalkeeper Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp.

The 23-year-old did not make an appearance immediately and had to wait a number of weeks before his debut came against Sunderland.

Lammens impressed during that game, offering calmness between the sticks as he helped United record their first clean sheet of the season.

Courtois explains two standout traits Lammens will bring at United

Following on from his debut Lammens jetted off for international duty with Belgium but was not used in either of their games against North Macedonia or Wales.

That is not entirely surprising due to the presence of the excellent Thibaut Courtois between the sticks. The Real Madrid goalkeeper is arguably the best in the world in that position.

Courtois has offered his thoughts on Lammens during the international break and explained how United are not only getting an aerially dominant goalkeeper, but also one who has the right personality.

“His first game was a flavour of what United will get. He’s a tall guy, he is not afraid to come on crosses, and he’s a kid with personality,” Courtois said of Lammens this week.

“I’m sure he can do a good job. He has a tough game this weekend, so I hope that if he plays, it will go well for him. All the best to him.”

Lammens’ personality is extremely important

It is always nice to see your goalkeeper dominating the box. Lammens made two high claims against Sunderland and the Old Trafford supporters celebrated them like goals.

But having the right personality alongside these skills is crucial, especially when playing as the Manchester United goalkeeper.

Gary Neville has previously claimed that being the shot-stopper at Old Trafford is the most difficult position in football and you need to have the right temperament.

Lammens seems to have the right amount of confidence and calmness to succeed and it seems like United fans are fully behind the latest signing.
