Pep Guardiola was far from impressed by Manchester United supporters following the 0-0 draw against his Manchester City side.
Manchester United played out a goalless draw against rivals Manchester City on Sunday afternoon, and they may feel slightly unlucky not to have taken all three points.
Ruben Amorim’s team continues to show progress in their overall play, but their familiar struggles in the final third were evident once again.
Although they created several promising opportunities, the Reds lacked a clinical edge when it came to finishing inside the City box.
In reality, even if the match had gone on for another 30 minutes, a 0-0 result still would have seemed likely.
Guardiola slams United fans for Foden chants
With there being little amounts of excitement on the pitch, it is not entirely surprising that Pep Guardiola’s most passionate comment after the game was about actions in the stands.
There were supposedly chants towards Phil Foden, who was replaced midway through the second half, from the Old Trafford crowd, which angered Guardiola.
“Lack of class. But it’s not United, it’s the people, you know?” the City boss stated in his press conference after the game.
“We are so exposed in the screen in world football – managers, owners, and football players especially.
“Honestly, I don’t understand the mind of the people involving the mum of Phil, it’s a lack of integrity, class, and they should be ashamed.”
It tells you everything you need to know about United vs City
The fact that the question even came up in Guardiola’s press conference tells you everything you need to know about how the game went.
United fans were just begging for some sort of spark in the final third. In fairness, the likes of Joshua Zirkzee and Mason Mount looked more likely to provide that when they came on.
However, the answer for those at Old Trafford is quite simple. Better players are needed.

You can often complicate football and talk about 100 different things, but in the end, the lack of general quality in the final third is so clear.
Better players need to come in and then perhaps United can become a consistent goalscoring threat in the Premier League.
