“They need…” – Alan Shearer tells Ruben Amorim what his next Man Utd task is after ‘belief’ point

Alan Shearer has claimed that Ruben Amorim has been given extra belief in his Manchester United players after their recent upturn in form.

Manchester United appear to have finally hit their stride, securing three consecutive victories in the Premier League.

After a slow start that placed early pressure on Ruben Amorim, the Reds have begun to show real signs of progress with wins over Sunderland, Liverpool, and Brighton.

The triumph at Anfield earlier this month was a standout result, but following it up with another confident display and convincing win against Brighton may have been even more important for Amorim’s side.

In previous seasons, United have often risen to the occasion in high-profile matches but struggled to sustain that same intensity against lower-ranked opponents. This time, however, they maintained their focus from start to finish.

Next, United travel to the City Ground to take on Nottingham Forest, now under the leadership of newly appointed manager Sean Dyche. The in-form Reds will be looking to build on their momentum and continue climbing the Premier League table.

Shearer tells Amorim what his next United task is

There does seem to be a feel-good factor at Old Trafford now with these recent wins and Alan Shearer thinks that the results have given Amorim extra belief after a tough period.

But the ex-Premier League striker also claimed that the next step for United is to show consistency over a longer period of time.

“It’s been a tough year for Ruben Amorim, but the last three weeks or so have given him belief – that result at Anfield and then backing it up with a win last weekend,” he told Betfred.

“They look like they’re on the right track. There are positive signs but they need to show consistency over the next few months to know if they’re ‘back’ but they’ve definitely taken steps forward.

“Man United are not the finished article yet, but a lot better than they were.”

United need consistent performances before results

United could lose against Forest, and if they do not, a defeat will not be too far away because the team is not perfect. Everyone knows that.

But the point of consistency is not directly related to results, even if they are important. United need to showcase the levels of determination and togetherness that they have in recent weeks every single time they step on the pitch.

If they can do that on a weekly basis then there will be genuine optimism amongst the fanbase even if results don’t always go their way.

Too often in recent years, it has felt like United have let teams beat them way too easily. Whether that has been down to a lack of effort or mistakes on the pitch. That is something that needs to change.
