A Premier League star has revealed their true feelings about rumours that closely linked them to Manchester United.
Manchester United have begun to show signs of having star quality in wide areas, something that was so dearly lacking last season.
Despite a slow start to the season, the Red Devils are now five games unbeaten for the first time under Rúben Amorim and have scored the fourth most goals in the league with 19, already at almost half of the side’s total goals last campaign.
Since signing in the summer, Bryan Mbeumo has proven to be a real difference maker which is shown by the fact that he is United’s top goalscorer this season, with five, making up around 26% of the team’s goals.
While goals have not come yet in abundance, Matheus Cunha has impressed with his technical quality and his ability to carry the side forward on his own at times.
However, with multiple links to other forwards, things could have shaped out differently had United pulled off another signing of a Premier League star last summer.
Semenyo reacts to summer links to United
Antoine Semenyo has been on fire this season so far. The Ghanian has continued his scintillating form from last season and has scored six times this season, with only Igor Thiago and Erling Haaland scoring more than Semenyo. His fine form has led to a contract extension with Bournemouth.
Throughout the summer, there were constant links between the Cherries star and United. However, in the end, United opted for Mbeumo and then moved for Benjamin Šeško shortly after.
After being quizzed on his future by Sky Sports, he said: “I don’t think about it too much.
“I try to stay present as much as I can. You see the news all the time, I see it as well, I’m not oblivious, but I try to keep focused.
“I’m enjoying my football here. If I’m not scoring goals, all of that goes away. I try to stay present, do the best I can for the team, score goals and whatever happens in the future happens.
“When they [his former team-mates] all left [in the summer], there was a lot of interest and back and forth with the club. But I knew in my head that the manager’s got something up his sleeve this year. How we finished off the season last year was so good, and we could continue, especially with the players we’ve bought in as well.”
Sky Sports also claims that Semenyo was annoyed by suggestions that he had asked to leave the club.
Should United go back in for Semenyo?
Manchester United should always be on the lookout for the best Premier League talent, and the signings of Cunha and Mbeumo prove this point.
The versatility of Semenyo is something that would be of great value for the club, as well as the red-hot form he is currently in.

Not only can he play across the front three, but he is also an option at wing-back. This level of versatility would make him almost like a Swiss-Army Knife type player for Amorim.
The main sticking point for a move could be the price tag Bournemouth places on him. With no real need to sell and having signed a new contract recently, it is not beyond the realms of possibilities that the Cherries place an £80 million plus price tag on him.
