Ruben Amorim has sent a clear message to his Manchester United players ahead of the Premier League clash with Nottingham Forest.
Manchester United head into the weekend in excellent form as Ruben Amorim readies his side for Saturday afternoon’s Premier League clash against Nottingham Forest.
Amorim’s men have won three consecutive matches, defeating Sunderland, Liverpool and Brighton; a strong run that was capped by an impressive performance at Old Trafford last weekend.
In contrast, Forest’s campaign has been far more turbulent, with Sean Dyche becoming their third manager of the season.
United’s revival has lifted them to sixth place in the Premier League, moving ahead of Liverpool, while Forest languish in 18th with just five points from nine matches; setting the stage for a lively and fiercely contested encounter at The City Ground.
Amorim sends clear message to Man Utd players
Amorim was clearly pleased with his team’s performance against Brighton last weekend as he opted for an unchanged line-up in the Premier League for the first time since he arrived at the club.
Harry Maguire has returned to the squad but young Frenchman Leny Yoro kept his place in the backline alongside Matthijs de Ligt and Luke Shaw.
United have the likes of Kobbie Mainoo, Joshua Zirkzee and Mason Mount also on the bench and Amorim has explained ahead of kick-off how important those substitutions can be for the team.
“We don’t have a starting eleven; we have eleven players that will start this game, but in the next one you don’t know,” Amorim told MUTV when asked about the bench.
“We need everybody, we all want to win the game and when we win the game it isn’t just the starting eleven, it’s the other guys who go inside of the pitch.
“And if we remind some of the games, you can feel that sometimes they are the ones that win the game.”
United will need full squad vs Forest
Last time out, Amorim made some early substitutions against Brighton and United’s levels dropped in that game.
With a limited amount of games for the squad players at United, they need to make an impact when they come off the bench and the clash against Forest is a brilliant opportunity to do that.
Under Dyche, the opponents will be defensively solid and the game will likely still be up for grabs heading into the latter stages, which makes the substitutions even more important.
Amorim will be hoping that United can take an early lead at the City Ground but the full squad will need to be on form in order to secure a fourth win in a row.
