“That’s what I want…” – Rio Ferdinand explains five key attributes Bryan Mbeumo brings to Manchester United

Rio Ferdinand has explained the five key attributes which Bryan Mbeumo is expected to bring to Manchester United next season.

Manchester United are on the verge of securing their second signing of the summer, with a deal for Brentford winger Bryan Mbeumo nearing completion.

Following the earlier addition of Matheus Cunha, head coach Ruben Amorim remains focused on strengthening his attacking options. While negotiations for Mbeumo have been complex, substantial progress has recently been made.

United’s initial £55 million bid for the 25-year-old was turned down in early June, but they returned this week with an improved offer exceeding £60 million.

Recent reports indicate that both clubs have now agreed on a base fee, with talks continuing over performance-related add-ons that could push the total value of the deal to around £65 million.

Mbeumo scored 20 goals in the Premier League last season and will provide a huge boost to Amorim’s underperforming frontline

Ferdinand explains five key Mbeumo attributes

United fans are very excited to see Mbeumo playing at Old Trafford and Rio Ferdinand has also showed his appreciation of the incoming signing.

The club legend has explained five key attributes that the Brentford star will bring to Amorim’s side, including his ability to consistently score in England’s top flight.

“I think it’s a wonderful signing if Manchester United get him,” the ex-United defender said on his YouTube channel this week.

“He has a lot of the things I’ve been asking for: Dynamic, can score goals, has power, can get from the half-way line to the edge of the box in a 1v1 situation, that’s what I want.

“And he has consistently scored in the last couple of years by the way, really good numbers in the Premier League.

Amad’s role after Mbeumo arrival

Mbeumo is likely going to operate as the right-sided no.10, a position which Amad occupied for much of last season when he was fit.

Ferdinand has offered praise for the “terrific” United star as well, before stating that it will be interesting to see how he fits into the side alongside Mbeumo.

“You got two players on the right-hand side,” continued Ferdinand. “Amad was terrific last season when he played before the injury.

“He’s one of our biggest threats and I’m interested to see now where Mbeumo and Amad fit into this team.”

It feels like the most likely scenario is for Amad to play a lot of football as the right wingback, a position he also played last term, which gives him the chance to link up with Mbeumo ahead of him.
