“That’s part of the game…” Patrick Dorgu makes bold claim regarding potential Rasmus Højlund Man Utd exit

Patrick Dorgu has spoken in an interview about his national teammate Rasmus Højlund, and about his potential exit from Manchester United, as ‘part of the game’ claim was made.

Patrick Dorgu arrived in the Premier League during the January 2025 transfer window as Ruben Amorim’s first signing for Manchester United.

The attacking wing-back joined from Lecce in Italy for a fee in the region of £25-£30million, and despite taking a few months to find his feet, has been very impressive for the Reds.

Although he is only 20 years old, Dorgu has made the left wing-back role his own during pre-season, and has started both Premier League fixtures so far this season.

The Danish defender has conducted an interview, in which he talks about his national team-mate Rasmus Højlund, who is rumoured to exit from United in the near future.

Højlund future ‘not secure’

In his interview with United correspondents, via the Manchester Evening News, Dorgu spoke about his closest friend in the squad, Højlund, and his uncertain future at the club.

“Obviously, we don’t know if he’s leaving. He is training with us, and he’s part of the team,” Dorgu explained.

“You need to talk to the coach about why he was not in the squad. But if he ended up leaving, that’s part of the game; everyone is not secure to be here. Obviously, I would still see him with the national team.”

Clearly, Højlund’s potential departure has managed to reach the United dressing room, as we enter the final days of the summer transfer window.

United’s attacking upgrades

Despite the fact that Dorgu may be losing his best friend in the squad, he remains optimistic that the new attackers in the squad can more than fill the void left by the stars who are departing.

United’s young defender also spoke about new signing Matheus Cunha, saying, “I feel like he’s really, really good at driving with the ball, getting past players, and I feel like with my runs and what I can do will help him to do that, and get more space to play, and we just need to connect well, like me and him.

“Obviously, there are other players as well. It’s not only on the left side; we need to attack on both sides. It helps getting Cunha in because he’s really good at what he’s doing and he’s going to help the team.”

Despite the slightly underwhelming start to the new season, there is a lot of optimism surrounding United’s new-look attack, and it feels as if once it clicks, fans of the club could be treated to some exciting, high-quality football.
