A surprise Manchester United star received some immense praise after the club’s 2-0 win over Rangers in pre-season.

The Reds provided a solid display in Scotland after losing in Norway against Rosenborg last week. Amad Diallo and Joe Hugill scored the goals.

Erik ten Hag would have been delighted with the performance of many players, including new signing Leny Yoro.

The French defender was excellent despite having only trained once with the team after his move from Lille was confirmed on Thursday evening.

However, another player had a lot of attention going into this fixture: Jadon Sancho made his first appearance for the club in 419 days.

The 24-year-old winger and Ten Hag have put their previous issues behind them and it seems like the Englishman will remain at Old Trafford next season.

Sancho looked sharp in the game. Despite making a few technical errors, his display was promising and earned praise from former United defender Danny Simpson.

“He looked sharp,” Simpson told MUTV. “I like these little positions that he gets in. When he’s coming off the left, he can come inside, he can rotate and switch.

“I think it was a good game for him today. Especially coming off everything from last season. I think there’s more to come, we know that.

“He can keep the ball in a pressure situation. He’s always comfortable, we see that. We know his ability. We just want to see more of that in the final third, getting us goals and assists and adding that to his game.

“And it will take him a while to get back to the level we know he’s capable of, but he does have a big opportunity now to force his way back into the team and show the manager, the staff, and all the fans just what top talent he is.”
