Steve Bruce raves about “marvellous” star after Man Utd winner vs Fulham, two aces praised

Former Manchester United defender Steve Bruce has raved about two of Michael Carrick’s stars following their dramatic 3-2 win over Fulham.

Manchester United claimed a dramatic late victory as Benjamin Šeško struck at the death to earn a 3-2 win over Fulham in the Premier League on Sunday.

United made a lively start, with Amad and Harry Maguire both denied early on, while Senne Lammens had to stay alert to make a sharp reaction save at the other end.

The breakthrough came just before the 20 minute mark when Casemiro met Bruno Fernandes’ free kick at the back post and powered a fine header into the net.

Leading 1-0 at half time, United were met by a strong response from Fulham after the restart. A superb long range effort from Cunha restored the home side’s two goal advantage, but Raúl Jiménez reduced the deficit after winning and converting a penalty.

In added time, Kevin produced an outstanding strike to bring the visitors level at 2-2. With the game heading towards a draw, substitute Šeško delivered a brilliant late finish to secure all three points, giving Michael Carrick three wins from three and keeping United in the top four.

Bruce praises two United stars vs Fulham

With Carrick back at the helm, United’s three games have felt like a snapshat of the United so many used to see under Sir Alex Ferguson.

A mix of a never-say-die attitude, a will to win, fantastic flair, and going toe to toe with anyone who stands in their way could not have been more present against Fulham.

Steve Bruce, a former Untied centre-back, knows exactly what this is about. Speaking with the BBC after the full-time whistle, the Englishman was full of praise for both Šeško and Fernandes.

“Wow. If anybody needed it, it was the kid Šeško,” Bruce explained folloiwng the full-time whistle.

“Wonderful skill from Fernandes, he does Bassey with a dummy. Šeško’s first touch his marvellous and then he smashes it in the top corner. That is what Old Trafford is all about.”

Everyone has a place at Carrick’s United

What has been an underrated part of Carrick’s tenure so far is that he is managing to find a place for all of United’s attacking players.

Quetsions were raised as to how the club would be able to handle their depth in the front line with just one game a week for the rest of the season, but so far, every player has played their part.

Fernandes has four assists in three games, and Bryan Mbeumo has two goals. Matheus Cunha has two goals and an assist despite only starting one ofhte three ties, while Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu also has two goals.

Šeško, who has not played too much of a part so far, was ultimately needed to score the winning goal against Fulham, while Amad, who is yet to register a goal contribution under Carrick, has been essential in sustaining attacks and helping the defensive unit.

Carrick is so far finding a way to use all of United’s attacking talent to almost perfect effect. The next challenge will be maintaining the composure and mood.
