Manchester United have spent around £130 million this summer on Matheus Cunha, Diego Leon, and Bryan Mbeumo.
The only major departure so far has been Marcus Rashford, who joined Barcelona on a season-long loan. The deal is believed to include a £30 million buy option for June 2026.
The club are also looking to sell Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, Tyrell Malacia, and Jadon Sancho in the coming weeks as they aim to raise funds for at least three more signings.
If the budget allows, United hope to bring in a goalkeeper, a midfielder, and a striker—RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Šeško is understood to be their top target up front.
Dortmund thinking about Jadon Sancho
Sancho’s future at United has never been in doubt; he will be departing the club this summer. The main question has always been where he will go.
After signing for Chelsea on loan last season, the two parties could not agree on a long-term contract, leading the London club to pay United £5 million to void their agreement to sign him for a £25 million fee this summer.
He was then heavily linked with Juventus, but that move appears to have fallen through. Premier League side Nottingham Forest also enquired, but have not followed up with their interest since.
However, fresh reports have emerged claiming that Borussia Dortmund, his former club, has raised the possibility of signing the 25-year-old for a third time, and their sporting director, Sebastian Kehl, has admitted that they are “thinking” about the transfer.
“[Sancho] is constantly being linked with us,” Kehl recently explained. “I understand the desire. We’re thinking about it within our possibilities. [If’ the conditions have to be right, we will definitely do something, but we’re limited.”
Furthermore, German transfer expert Patrick Berger has noted that Sancho remains an internal topic of discussion at the Bundesliga club, as they value his qualities – although there is apprehension about the perception of signing a player for the third time and the potential lack of creativity in the market.
Berger further clarifies that the winger would be willing to take a pay reduction to sign with Dortmund, and that United are open to receiving offers of around £17 million.
Saha feels Sancho’s talents being wasted
With Rashford now at Barcelona and Sancho heading towards an exit, United cult hero and former striker Louis Saha has admitted he is upset with the pair.
Saha recently explained that he feels Sancho’s particular talents are being wasted, and that he should be setting his heights to play for the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona.

“I’m upset with players like Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford,” Saha explained. “Look at Jadon Sancho, if you put him in the PSG team or the Real Madrid team, he would do damage, but only once in every three games, he’s not consistent.
“It’s like he’s playing against himself. Maybe the structure of a club like Juventus might help him. At the moment, his talent is being wasted.
“It’s all about his mentality, and that’s why he hasn’t been able to perform. He has shown glimpses at Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund, and he may not be happy with how things are going.
“He can be happy, though, because he has so much ability and a great opportunity in front of him.”
