Manchester United are open to including an option-to-buy clause in a loan deal for winger Facundo Pellistri in the January transfer window.

Pellistri, 21, joined the Old Trafford club in the summer of 2020 for around £9 million from CA Peñarol.

The United winger was loaned out for the second half of the 2020/21 campaign in La Liga at Alaves and he would return to the Spanish club on a season-long loan for the following campaign

Pellistri rejoined United under Erik ten Hag last term and made 10 first-team appearances. This season he has played 13 games, but the club are now searching for a loan move in January for the winger, and a permanent option could now be added to the table.

Sources have told UtdDistrict that United are open to including a buy-option in a possible loan deal for Pellistri in the region of £10-20 million. However, this would be provided only if a future sell-on clause is agreed upon.

UtdDistrict also understands that there has been recent interest in the Uruguayan winger for loans for this month, including within the Premier League, as The Reds held internal discussions on the wide player’s situation at the beginning of January.

Speaking on the player in November, Ten Hag said: “Pelli must now become a starter and take that step forward.”

The Dutchman added: “He has to make also a step from a bench player, coming in and having a good impact, to a starting eleven player. We will see how quick that process will do.”

Only three of Pellistri’s 13 appearances this term have come from the start of the game. He has been included on the bench, but not substituted, in 13 games.
