Sofyan Amrabat has been reflecting on his time at Manchester United and the Moroccan midfielder has praised one of his former teammates at Old Trafford.
While Manchester United have not been at the height of their powers over the last decade, there have still been some memorable moments for fans to celebrate.
The Reds have won one Europa League, two Carabao Cups and two FA Cups since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement. They have also reached four further finals.
Many fans would say that the best moment during this period was the 2024 FA Cup final victory over rivals Manchester City.
In that game, Sofyan Amrabat played in the midfield and produced one of his best performances during his loan spell at United.
Despite rumours that United may sign the Moroccan permanently, he instead returned to Fiorentina and has since moved to Real Betis where he plays alongside ex-United teammate Antony.
Amrabat praises ‘truly fantastic’ United star
Amrabat spent the entire 2023/24 campaign at United and made 30 appearances for the club across all competitions.
The now-29-year-old has been reflecting on his team at the club in a ecent interview on the YouTube show Bij Andy in de Auto, as relayed by Feyenoord Pings.
He highlighted the impact of Bruno Fernandes, who is arguably the best player Amrabat has played alongside, with the Betis star labelling him as ‘fantastic’.
“It was really quite something,” Amrabat said. “United is still a truly massive club in every way.
“He’s a truly great player, truly top-notch. Is he my best teammate ever? I’ve played with a lot of good players, and I don’t want to discredit anyone, but he was truly fantastic. He was also a good guy, very helpful, and a real winner.”
Cunha agrees about Fernandes quality
It is not surprising that Fernandes was the standout teammate for Amrabat and it is also the case for United’s latest signings.
Matheus Cunha was full of praise for his captain after he signed for the club in the summer, saying: “I think Bruno is a big example for everyone in the Premier League… how to use the the shirt of this club. You feel the passion inside of him.”
Fernandes’ impact is clear and top players want to play alongside him.
Even though the 31-year-old has had a mixed start to the season, there are no doubts that he will be able to turn things around and start supplying the likes of Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo.
