Manchester United have been provided an update on Sofyan Amarabat’s injury with Erik ten Hag facing Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

After finishing third in the Premier League last campaign, Manchester United will re-enter the Champions League, guided for the first time by Erik ten Hag in the competition.

Ten Hag has had previous success in Europe’s elite competition, getting to the semi-finals in 2019 with his famous young Ajax squad.

United are currently suffering from 10 missing players in their squad, with new signing Sofyan Amrabat having been unavailable from the side that lost 3-1 to Brighton on Saturday afternoon.

It has been revealed by Simon Stone that although Amrabat is back in Manchester United training, he is currently training away from the main group ahead of their trip to face Bayern Munich – is it therefore unlikely that he will travel and be able to make his debut for the side, although the club are yet to confirm the squad.

United may be boosted by the return of Mason Mount, with the midfielder returning to training having suffered an injury against Tottenham last month. Kobbie Mainoo and Amad both remain sidelined although the former is training in individual sessions, with Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia not expected back soon – but Sergio Reguilón’s good display on the weekend helps alleviate this.

Both Jadon Sancho and Antony remain away from the squad, with the former training alone and the latter fighting domestic abuse allegations from Brazil. Tom Heaton also remains out of action, but new signing Altay Bayındır covers this.

Lisandro Martínez and Victor Lindelöf returned after fitness doubts, but Raphaël Varane also returned to training on Tuesday.
