“So unique…” – Ruben Amorim urged to avoid mistake with “flawless” Manchester United star
A handful of Manchester United players have excelled at the club since the arrival of new head coach Ruben Amorim.
Manchester United have won just four of the opening 12 games under Ruben Amorim, despite some glimpses of his system working well.
The team properly deserve some more wins from that run, but have also showed in certain games that they have huge issues to address.
Amad’s performances have been one of the clear positives to take from this period, with the Ivorian excelling under the new management.
The 22-year-old was on the peripheral of Erik ten Hag’s squad despite winning the club’s Player of the Month award in August.
He took the opportunity received under Amorim with both hands and has since been rewarded with a new long-term contract and Old Trafford.
Amorim urged to avoid Amad mistake
Former United defender Paul Parker has been full of praise for the wide player, who he believes has been “flawless” this season.
The ex-player also believes that there are many aspects of Amad’s game which benefit the team, such as his attitude, end product and versatility.
Although, Parker warns Amorim to not take full advantage of Amad’s ability to play in the wingback role as he believes the 22-year-old is much more useful further forward.
“Amad has been flawless. Wow. He really reminds me of Giggs in his attitude and the way he plays. He takes on his man, and he’s always one of the best players on the pitch. His attitude is great, and he’s finally adding the numbers too. He has a great end product,” Parker told bettingexpert.com.
“I said quite early when he came back from Sunderland that he should play, and it makes sense if he was unhappy with the lack of minutes. People didn’t see it, and neither did the manager (Ten Hag).
“Now, he’s showing everyone that he’s good enough to play, week in, week out. He’s versatile, which helps the team, but his attacking skills are so unique. We need to tap into that, whether as an attacking midfielder or winger—not as a wing-back.”
Amad’s position at United will be debated
Amad’s position will likely continue to be debated until United either sign a forward or wingback. It is quite clear he can perform both roles, but the forward line seems like it suits him better for the long-term.
The only thing which may impact Amorim’s decision making in the short term is the fact that the team are not yet perfect in his style, which means games are less dominated that he would like them to be.
Ideally, a player like Amad is getting on the ball as much as anyone else in the team. Sometimes, you find yourself isolated as part of a front three if your team cannot build properly and dominate the ball.

That could lead to Amad starting more games at wingback, to try and help the player get onto the ball more often and progress from slightly deeper, while also offering a threat offensively from wide positions.
Ultimately, it will be interesting to see what kind of role Amad plays going forward, but it feels like it will be a significant one.
