Rúben Amorim has shed light on one Manchester United star, who has stepped up recently and shown their class.
Rúben Amorim’s reign at Manchester United so far has been far from the level expected from a club of the size and stature of the Red Devils. Ending last season in almost the worst way possible, losing the Europa League final to English rivals Spurs, and finishing 15th in the Premier League.
Things only got worse for Amorim, as his side started this season losing to Arsenal on opening day, drawing to Fulham, and getting knocked out of the Carabao Cup by League Two side Grimsby Town.
However, the season has taken a huge turn for the better, as United are currently on a five-game unbeaten streak and lingering around the top of the table, with a win against Everton potentially taking them up to fourth and one point off Manchester City.
In the midst of this great run, Amorim has decided to single out Casemiro as a standout performer and a focal point of the team’s success.
Amorim’s thoughts on Casemiro
In an interview with Stadium Astro on YouTube, Amorim was asked what has been the biggest reason for Casemiro’s performances improving, and what he loves most about the Brazilian.
“The mentality of Casemiro, he improves even with (winning) five Champions Leagues, a lot of leagues (titles), national career (success), all of that career done, and he is still able to learn.
“He’s able to understand that I want to play in a different way, maybe it is a little bit different from how he is used to playing, and he has the mentality and the ability to understand that.
“He is really smart, really experienced, sometimes he can hide his limitations, and that is a very good quality in a player, and he can help with the others in training because he is so perfect in the way he trains.”
Casemiro’s resurgence of form
Casemiro has started nine of United’s eleven matches in the league this season, showing a clear trust that his manager has in him.
He has been solid in the midfield and has also found himself on the scoresheet this season, scoring the winner against Chelsea and the second in the 4-2 victory against Brighton.
The 33-year-old has been targeted by many people in the media throughout different stages of his United career, with many questioning if he can still play at a high level due to his age, and with his form taking a dip in his second season, it looked like the end of his time at the club was imminent.

However, the Brazilian veteran decided against leaving the club and chose to fight for his place at United, and after impressing the new boss last season, he has proven that he is worth his weight in gold for United and regained the trust of the fans.
Three years on from making the move to Manchester, he continues to play a significant role for his team, proving the doubters wrong.
