Slovenia issue Benjamin Šeško injury statement after Man Utd update, it’s good news

The Slovenian national team have issued an update on Benjamin Šeško’s injury status amid Manchester United’s medical tests.

In Manchester United’s most recent Premier League fixture against Tottenham Hotspur, Slovenian international Benjamin Sesko had to be subbed off by Utd head coach Rúben Amorim after experiencing an injury to his knee.

The forward came into the game during the second half of Utd’s and Spurs’ clash; however, less than 30 minutes after he came onto the pitch, he was taken off.

Since the 22-year-old was injured in Saturday’s match, the Slovenian national team’s coaching staff have expressed concerns about how the club handled the information regarding the player’s injury.

This has eventually led the Football Association of Slovenia to intervene in the feud between the two clubs, with Sesko at the centre of it.

Slovenia drama with Šeško injury emerges

Previously, Slovenian manager Matjaz Kek expressed that he had been left incredibly angry during the early days of this week due to being left out of the loop by United regarding the striker’s injury.

He went as far as to demand that the club show him “maximum respect” in terms of updates on the young player’s injury situation.

The Daily Mail also reported that Kek had threatened Utd staff to cause a “diplomatic incident” and would have felt much happier if the 41-capped Slovenian international had undergone his treatment by the Slovenian national team’s doctors.

Despite Kek’s hopes, Sesko was examined by the United medical staff and has continued his treatment at Carrington, rather than linking up with the Slovenian national side.

Slovenia issue Šeško injury update

In a new update, reports have been received regarding Sesko’s injury status, indicating that the striker’s knee injury is not serious.

Slovenia’s national federation has now confirmed that it has received all relevant medical documents and has accepted United’s diagnosis for the player in an attempt to eliminate any further tension.

They also confirmed that, as of now, the only confirmed absence of Šeško is from the national side, which is good news that he may recover from most of his injury during the international break, and return to United action soon.

A Slovenian spokesperson said: “The medical team of the Slovenian national football team revealed the complete medical documentation from Manchester United regarding Sesko’s condition following his injury on Saturday, including the current clinical picture and the examinations performed.

“Unfortunately, the injury currently does not allow for the training process. In the coming days, additional examinations and the start of treatment are planned at the club, so Benjamin will unfortunately not be able to participate in this national team action.

“We wish Benjamin a speedy recovery and a return to the football field as soon as possible.”
