There are at least six Manchester United stars who are set to return to Carrington for pre-season training on Thursday morning.
Manchester United players returned to Carrington on Monday as pre-season preparations began for a crucial campaign under Ruben Amorim.
After the summer break, Amorim greeted most of his squad at the training ground to mark the start of their return to action.
New signings Matheus Cunha and Diego Leon were among those in attendance, with the club uploading footage of the session on the grass.
The first three days of training have not had the entire group involved, with some players given additional time off, but a host of Reds are set to return on Thursday.
Six United stars to return to pre-season training tomorrow
Many United players were able to have a full summer break after their post-season tour but some then had to head out on international duty.
Recent reports explained that those players were told that they would not have to return for pre-season until Thursday, allowing them a few extra days of rest.
Cunha would have been among that group as he played for Brazil last month but the new signing opted to come into Carrington early to get to know his new teammates and coaches.
Otherwise, it was Altay Bayındır (Turkey), Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu and Rasmus Højlund (Denmark), Casemiro (Brazil), Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot (Portugal), and Manuel Ugarte (Uruguay) who took that extra time.
It has been reported that Fernandes and Dalot have been given one extra week of compassionate leave after the passing of their compatriot, close friend, and Liverpool winger Diogo Jota.
A lot of players will also be on different schedules and training programmes in these opening weeks. Chido Obi is also likely to return on this date as he represented Denmark Under-20s at the Maurice Revello tournament in June.
Amorim stops Rashford from training with squad
While those players prepare to return to training, there is another group who have reportedly been told not to come back to the training ground.
Reports over recent weeks suggested that Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Alejandro Garnacho, Tyrell Malacia and Antony wanted to leave the club and so United offered them extra time off.
There were question marks whether this would actually be the case. For example, the same was said about Sancho last summer but he trained with the group at Carrington and went on the pre-season tour.
However, Amorim’s decision was essentially confirmed this week after it was revealed that Rashford spent time at Carrington on Monday and Tuesday but was not able to join the squad for team training.
It seems like that group of players will actually not be involved with the group unless they do not end up leaving the club at all this summer.
