Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s Manchester United powers have been ‘extended’ following review
Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS’ powers at Manchester United have now been extended following a review of their current remit at Old Trafford.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe‘s 25 per cent acquisition at Manchester United has his company, INEOS, take over all sporting operations at Old Trafford as part of his agreement with the Glazer family.
This includes taking a review of the structure of the club and installing Sir Dave Brailsford and Jean-Claude Blanc on the board above Erik ten Hag.

However, according to The Athletic, INEOS’ remit at the club will now be extended beyond just football operations.
While having the responsibility of running the football side of the club, Ratcliffe’s team will also liaise with the Glazers on business decisions as they will have an impact on the day-to-day of the footballing area of United.
This means that the two groups, INEOS and the Glazer family, will have to make sure their views are consistent across key business decision, as dividing up the different areas now feels unrealistic.
INEOS feel that the club’s commercial success will be greatly impacted by the hoped on-field success, which they are in charge of, so it only makes sense for them to have a say in the business side at Old Trafford.
This has already taken place with respect to the appointment of Omar Berrada as the club’s new CEO, who has had past success in both the football operation and business operation sides of the beautiful game.
Berrada is reportedly set to start his job in the summer, where he will take over from interim CEO Patrick Stewart, who has been steering the ship since Richard Arnold left the role late last year.
