Sir Jim Ratcliffe sends Ruben Amorim message about Marcus Rashford ahead of Man Utd vs Wolves
Manchester United travel to face Wolves on Boxing Day and it remains to seen whether Marcus Rashford will be involved.
Ruben Amorim has left Marcus Rashford out of the last three games for United, citing his reasoning as ‘selection’ on all three occasions.
After the dramatic 2-1 win against Manchester City last weekend, Rashford conducted an interview with Henry Winter, where he admitted to being open for a new challenge.
Following on from that, it appears that the club’s no.10 could have played his final game for United, with just two matches remaining before the January transfer window.
Some fans have speculated that Amorim has been told to leave Rashford out of his team as the club looks to sell the 27-year-old forward, who is reportedly on more than £300,00-a-week.
Ratcliffe leaves Rashford decision in Amorim’s hands
However, new reports from various outlets have clarified that the United hierarchy have left the future of Rashford entirely in the hands of Amorim.
The Times report that co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and other senior figure have planned to allow Amorim to decide what happens next with the left-winger.
Aforementioned reports have claimed that it will be difficult to find suitors for Rashford in a mid-season window due to his high wages and the £40 million price tag United have set.
A loan options may be a solution but it seems unlikely the club would be willing to sanction such a deal without an obligation to buy the player at a later date.
Everything suggests that the United academy graduate may have several more months at Old Trafford, even though it seems both parties are ready for a break.
Will Rashford play against Wolves
Amorim has continuously left the door open for Rashford to push his way back into the team and did so once again this week.
The head coach did not rule out the possibility of Rashford being in the squad to face Wolves on Boxing Day, with the rest of his attacking players–barring Amad–failing to impress in recent games.

Asked whether United’s no.10 could be in contention to play on Thursday, Amorim simply responded: “It depends, we will see.”
Rashford has scored twice before against Wolves when coming back from time out of the squad. Erik ten Hag benched him for home fixture in 2022/23 after he was late for a team meeting.
The Dutchman then reinstated him to the team against Wolves last season after he was dropped against Newport County after going out drinking in Belfast and failing to report for training the next day.
