Sir Jim Ratcliffe has responded to the recent “worst team” comments from Ruben Amorim after Manchester United lost to Brighton.

Manchester United fans and pundits alike were shocked when Ruben Amorim came out and suggested that his team were one of the worst in the club’s history.

The Reds, who are currently 13th in the Premier League table, fell to another disappointing loss against Brighton and Amorim was far from pleased.

After he reportedly broke a TV in the dressing room at Old Trafford, Amorim headed out for his post-match press conference and appeared to hold back no punches.

“In 10 games in the Premier League, we won two. I know that. We are the worst team maybe in the history of Manchester United,” the 39-year-old said.

Since that comment, the United boss clarified that he was not speaking about his players, but rather himself, in that rant.

“I was talking more for myself than my players because I was talking that [I am] a coach who starts out losing seven games in the first [15]. So it’s more for me,” he explained.

It was still a comment that generated tons of attention for the media. Amorim knew that. “I know you want headlines,” he said after making the claim.

Some pundits suggested that Sir Jim Ratcliffe would not be happy about the comments from Amorim even after he clarified them this week and that he may punish the Portuguese coach.

However, according to The Guardian, the United co-owner is not planning on taking any action against Amorim.

It was added that the British billionaire does not believe the claim will cause United players to lose faith in Amorim and adversely affect performance.

The United head coach has been explaining that the entire club needs a shock after the failure in the last decade, with fans tired of excuses from within Old Trafford.

“I am responsible, I don’t like to arrive here and make excuses. I think people are tired of excuses in this club,” he said last month.

“Sometimes, I talk about relegation because of that. I think our club needs a shock, it needs a shock, and we have to understand that.”
