Sir Jim Ratcliffe has already explained what he expected in the transfer market this summer, as two players are expected to stay.

The Reds have been making changes on and off the pitch since Ratcliffe and his INEOS team took charge earlier this year.

Erik ten Hag has extended his deal at Old Trafford, and the first two signings of the new era—Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee—have been confirmed.

However, more changes are needed in the coming weeks ahead of the transfer window’s closure. But perhaps more importantly is the sales made in that time.

United have many players they are open to selling but it has already become apparent that some of them will stay at the club for at least another year.

According to Sky Sports, Harry Maguire will not be leaving the club this summer despite rumours of a potential exit.

Another report from The Athletic has stated that Casemiro is now also anticipated to be a United player into next season after conversations with Saudi Pro League clubs have gone cold.

Both of those players are in their thirties and clearly will not be a part of INEOS’ ideal squad to compete in the coming years.

Yet, Ratcliffe anticipated that the club would not address all of their problems in a single transfer window and instead suggested that it could take two or three summers before every problem is solved.

He also pointed out that the new regime needs to get its feet under the table, with Dan Ashworth, Omar Berrada, and Jason Wilcox all new appointments at the club.

“We’re sort of a bit handicapped in that sense, so I think we’ll do a fairly good job,” he told Bloomberg.

“It will take two or three summer windows to get to a better place. I’m not confident that we’ll solve all the problems in the first transfer window.”

United fans will hope that some more signings and sales are made before the end of the window, but it is clear that not every problem will be solved in three weeks’ time.
