“Similar to Kobbie Mainoo…” – Manchester United starlet praised after “impactful” display, Ruben Amorim is a big fan

One Manchester United starlet has been praised after producing an “impactful” display for the Under-21s earlier this week.

Ruben Amorim’s arrival at Manchester United was highly anticipated for several reasons, including his commitment to nurturing young talent.

The 40-year-old head coach has demonstrated a willingness to integrate Academy prospects into the first team, provided they show potential.

Under Amorim’s guidance at Sporting, Geovany Quenda emerged as one of Europe’s most highly-rated young players. However, despite interest from Old Trafford, he ultimately chose to join Chelsea.

Nevertheless, there is optimism that Amorim will make the most of the existing talent at Carrington, having recently handed first-team debuts to Chido Obi and Harry Amass.

United starlet compared to Mainoo after impactful display

Sekou Kone is one of the most exciting talents in the Under-21s squad right now after he arrived at the club in the summer from Malian side Guidars FC.

The talented midfielder has been working hard in the youth teams and produced his best performance in a red shirt last time out.

In a 2-2 draw against Leeds, it was Kone who scored United’s opener – his first for the club – and won the penalty for the second goal.

Outside of his contribution inside the box, one of Kone’s best attributes was on show once again, with the midfielder being able to wriggle out of tight spaces with his excellent close control.

This was pointed out by MUTV pundit Liam Bradford during the clash against Leeds on Friday afternoon, who compared it to the ability of Kobbie Mainoo in the first-team.

“He’s quite similar to Kobbie Mainoo in that he can receive the ball in tight areas and get out of danger with a quick turn,” Bradford explained.

“He’s having an impact all over the pitch, Sekou Kone. He’s making an impact and stepping up in attack and defence.”

Kone can become worthy United first-team player

Amorim is quite clearly a fan of Kone, who he included on the bench in a couple of first-team matches earlier this season.

The 19-year-old is likely going to be involved in the next pre-season and will be hoping to push for first-team football next term.

With Christian Eriksen set to leave and uncertainty over Casemiro’s future, there may be a chance for a youngster to come in and impress.

Kone has all of the capabilities to prove his worth as a first-team player, with his close control being one of the standout attributes.
