Shea Lacey reacts after Manchester United vs Crystal Palace as ‘soon’ debut message received

Shea Lacey was once again included in the Manchester United squad as they won 2-1 against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

Manchester United made a second-half comeback to secure three points against Crystal Palace, with the goals coming from Joshua Zirkzee and Mason Mount.

The Reds showed fighting spirit to win at a tough away ground and Ruben Amorim would have been pleased after a disappointing showing against Everton last week.

In both of those games, 18-year-old winger Shea Lacey was included in the squad after impressing Amorim on the training ground.

Despite many fans wanting to see him in action, Lacey was not chosen to start either of the matches with Amorim trusting in his more experienced attacking players.

Lacey’s involvement in the first-team squad for consecutive games is a significant step for him after a difficult time out with injury.

The teenager took to Instagram after the win at Selhurst Park, posting some images of him before and after full-time with a heart emoji and a flexing muscle emoji.

In the comments, fellow academy star Amir Ibragimov wrote, “Soon bro,” with a heart emoji attached. He is not the only one expecting Lacey to make his first-team bow in the coming weeks.

Amorim has already stated that he thinks young players like Lacey are ready to step up when United lose the likes of Amad and Bryan Mbeumo to AFCON later this month.

Lacey will get his chance

Amorim has not really given many chances to academy talent at Old Trafford so far, barring the period at the end of last season when United were prioritising the Europa League campaign.

That has also led to criticism over the fact that Lacey has not come on in either of the last two games but that is simply over the top.

It is easy to forget that Lacey’s journey has been extremely difficult in the last two years and he has not had any experience in the first-team dressing room.

Amorim seems to wants Lacey to have the experience of a matchday with the first-team before he has to be thrown into action in the coming weeks and that is not just something the Portuguese boss does.

Lacey will get an opportunity soon, and it will be exciting for fans to see how he gets on when it comes.
