Šeško, De Ligt, Maguire: Manchester United injury updates and return dates vs Bournemouth (Premier League)

Rúben Amorim has three injuries to keep an eye on as he prepares his side to face Bournemouth at Old Trafford on Monday evening.

Manchester United will look to restore consistency in their results as they host Bournemouth at Old Trafford on Monday evening.

Rúben Amorim’s last game was the second biggest of his tenure at the club, with goals from Bruno Fernandes (2), Bryan Mbeumo, and Mason Mount securing a 4-1 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers, although another game without a clean sheet dampened celebrations.

Although the club have lost just one of their last nine league fixtures, they have also won just two of their previous six, leading to intense debate surrounding the validity of the club’s recent form.

Bournemouth, on the other hand, have a clear set of problems in the last six fixtures, having lost four and drawn two in the Premier League. However, the Cherries have had a fantastic few years at Old Trafford, with back-to-back 3-0 wins at the ground to their name.

Amorim has three injuries he must monitor over the next few days ahead of the tie, and there has been encouraging news regarding Benjamin Šeško.

Benjamin Šeško

What happened: During United’s 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur last month, Šeško had to come off with a knee injury following a challenge from Micky van de Ven.

What’s been said: Sky Sports have reported that he is close to a return and could feature against Bournemouth, while his agent confirmed this week that his recovery is going well.

Possible return date: 15 December – Bournemouth (H)

Matthijs de Ligt

What happened: Matthijs de Ligt was unexpectedly left out of United’s squad to face West Ham last week, and also missed the fixture against Wolves.

What was said: “I don’t know,” Amorim said on Monday when asked if De Ligt has a return timeline. “Sometimes you have an idea, then you have to see day by day. I’m not going to say when he is coming back.”

Possible return date: Late December 2025.

Harry Maguire

What happened: Much like Šeško, Harry Maguire had to be withdrawn against Tottenham, but his exit was due to a possible hamstring injury.

What was said: Speaking two weeks ago, Amorim confirmed that Maguire was not ready and that his injury could “take a little bit longer” to heal, but could return around the same time as Šeško.

Possible return date: 15 December – Bournemouth (H)
