Michael Carrick could make one change when he lines up his Manchester United side to face Everton on Monday evening in the Premier League.
Manchester United are set to resume their Premier League campaign on Monday evening, ending a 13-day wait when Michael Carrick’s men travel to take on Everton at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
The trip will mark the senior side’s first visit to Everton’s new stadium, though United’s women previously claimed a 4–1 WSL victory over the Toffees there in October 2025.
Carrick’s team head into the fixture aiming to improve on their 1–1 draw away at West Ham United two weeks ago. Sitting fourth in the table ahead of the latest round of games, they remain in a strong position in the pursuit of Champions League football.
However, the margins are tight. Chelsea are just one point behind in fifth, while Liverpool are three points adrift of United, underlining the importance of avoiding any slip-up against David Moyes’ side.
Carrick could make one change vs Everton
Carrick has made only one change to his starting teams across his five games in charge, an enforced one when Matheus Cunha replaced Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu following the latter’s hamstring injury.
Senne Lammens has played every minute in goal since Carrick joined the club and kept two clean sheets in five games, and will remain in the net for the tie on Monday evening.
There was a fitness concern surrounding Harry Maguire after he came off with a possible hamstring issue against West Ham, but he has since been spotted in training and is expected to remain in the team alongside Lisandro Martínez at centre-back.
There have been calls to see whether Noussair Mazraoui could be given a shot at right-back over Diogo Dalot, although Carrick’s lack of changes so far makes this unlikely, while Luke Shaw is an almost guaranteed start on the left.
In midfield, the base pairing will be Casemiro and Kobbie Mainoo, who have been working together like a duck to water since the change to a 4-2-3-1 formation under Carrick. They’ve allowed club captain Bruno Fernandes to do his best work, and he will be starting at the attacking midfielder.
As for the front three, the big question hangs over whether or not Benjamin Šeško is handed his first start under the new boss, following five goals being scored across his last six appearances for the Reds.
This would mean one of Bryan Mbeumo, Cunha, or Amad would have to be dropped, and the most likely scenario feels that it may be the Brazilian who makes way.

Although Amad is yet to score, his work rate in the squad is unmatched and will be essential in a hard-fought fixture against Everton. If Šeško is to start, this would mean Mbeumo must vacate the striker position.
This would leave one of Mbeumo or Cunha for the left-wing spot, and given the former’s good final-ball deliveries, he may be the better fit on the left flank to swing crosses into Šeško. Cunha, equally, is brilliant at imapcting off the bench, so could be vital in the second half.
