Senne Lammens reveals the most ‘hostile’ game at Manchester United so far, it was a ‘good experience’

Senne Lammens has revealed the most ‘hostile’ game he has experienced since joining Manchester United in the summer transfer window.

Manchester United focused on improving their attacking firepower in the summer window, spending around £200 million on the signings of Benjamin Šeško, Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo.

It was a much-needed change after players like Rasmus Højlund and Alejandro Garnacho failed to perform at Old Trafford last term.

But United also decided to sign a new goalkeeper, opting for a young option with room to grow in Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp.

Lammens has played every game for United since his debut against Sunderland, and he has offered an improved calm for the team’s defence.

Lammens reveals the most ‘hostile’ game at United so far

Lammens has only lost two Premier League games so far this season. United have been far from perfect but he has provided some important attributes at the back.

There have still been mistakes, as expected when you sign an inexperienced goalkeeper, but Lammens has proven that he can bounce back from those errors.

He has been speaking to United media about his time at Old Trafford so far and explained how the away trip to rivals Leeds was ‘quite hostile’.

The Reds drew that game 1-1 as Matheus Cunha scored the visitor’s goal. It was also Ruben Amorim’s final game in charge of the club before his dismissal.

“It was quite hostile [at Leeds], to be honest,” Lammens said. “So it was also a special game, just too bad we couldn’t come away with the three points.

“It was a really nice game to play in and good experience for me, as well, to get into those games.

“I think, if you can get your performance in and just stay the same way as you did, like playing at home, I think it’s a good lesson to learn as a young goalkeeper. And, if you know you can do it, then you can do it almost everywhere.”

Lammens can deal with the pressure

Lammens is not the perfect goalkeeper but he is proving to be a pretty smart addition for United so far this season.

He does the simple things well, which can not be said about every ‘keeper. With United’s defensive stricture seemingly improving under Michael Carrick, he will likely be even more protected heading forward

The major question marks surrounding the new shot-stopper is his ability to reach the corners when diving. He is still also relatively untested in his short distribution.

But those are areas of his game that can improve, and he has shown that he can deal with the pressure of being in between the sticks at United.
