Belgian goalkeeper Senne Lammens has been in fantastic form during his first games as a Manchester United player, and has definitely won the hearts of United fans with his ‘injury time heroics’.
Goalkeeper Senne Lammens joined Manchester United on deadline day this summer transfer window for £20 million, and has started his career in Manchester brilliantly.
Though Lammens has yet to keep a clean sheet at Old Trafford, the Belgian has shown signs of promise in his early days at the club.
From commanding his area to quick reflexes to low shots, Lammens has proven he has what it takes to be United’s no.1 for the foreseeable future.
Lammens won the hearts of United fans on Monday night, specifically, as he saved the Reds from losing a record kept since 1984.
100% record at Old Trafford still intact
Lammens became United’s saviour in the game vs Bournemouth, getting down low to block David Brooks’ 96th-minute header, and quickly stopping Brooks’ second attempt in the 99th minute.
Due to Lammens’ injury-time heroics, the Reds held onto their record of not losing when winning at half-time at Old Trafford, a streak dating back to 1984.
Lammens was waved off with applause as the Reds recovered from conceding two goals in quick succession at the start of the second half.
BBC Sport reported that three of his five saves in the match came after the 95th minute, Meaning Lammens’ heroic saves were crucial to the critical Premier League point.
Lammens caps fantastic United performance
Despite conceding four to 13th-place Bourenmouth, the Reds played well, recording 25 shots and having an xG of 3.4.
Gary Neville described the game as ‘a performance I can live with’, as Ruben Amorim’s squad continue to show signs of improvement heading towards the halfway stage of the season.
The Reds have now lost one game in ten, sitting sixth in the Premier League table, and putting pressure on the teams above them as the club hopes to get back into European football next season.

Goalkeeper Lammens will hope to get back into the Champions League next season, after making an appearance for former club Royal Antwerp in 2023.
Fans will also anticipate an improved league place finish this season, after a devastating previous season, and will be eager to see Lammens back in the net next Sunday.
