Senne Lammens explains key goalkeeping move he ‘takes pride in’, it was André Onana’s biggest weakness

Senne Lammens has explained one key goalkeeping move that he takes pride in following Manchester United’s win over Everton.

Michael Carrick’s side secured a crucial three points as a loan strike from Benjamin Sesko earned Manchester United a 1–0 victory over Everton on Monday night.

Both teams fashioned opportunities early on, but steady drizzle led to a scrappy, slippery encounter, with neither side able to break the deadlock before the interval.

United came out with greater intent after the restart, introducing Šeško for Amad, and the change paid off. The forward netted with 20 minutes remaining to give the visitors the edge.

Everton pressed in search of an equaliser, yet Senne Lammens delivered a series of superb saves to protect the lead. Carrick’s men stood firm at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, climbing to fourth in the table as a result.

Lammens explains key goalkeeping move he ‘takes pride in’

Lammens was the deserved Man of the Match against Everton and the goalkeeper commanding his area extremely well in difficult conditions.

However, one of the most impressive moments came in the final minutes when Tyrique George hit a hard and low effort towards goal. With the ball skidding across the wet turf, Lammens did not only save the shot but he kept hold of the ball.

There were Everton players ready for a potential rebound but the United shot-stopper made sure he was not going to give them an opportunity. Ensuring he holds those types of shots is something he takes pride in.

“I like to take pride in it,” he told reporters after the game. “I feel like if I can keep the ball, I help the defence. I train on it… to not give second chances away.”

Onana struggled in that department

One of the most concerning parts about André Onana’s game was the fact that he regularly palmed the ball back into dangerous areas when he made saves.

It is something that has not been a problem with Lammens between the sticks and it’s one of many things that has helped the defensive line at United.

The Reds have lost just two of 19 games with the Belgian shot-stopper and it doesn’t seem to be a coincidence. He offers the calmness that has been missing.

His display against Everton might have been his best so far in a United shirt and the best part about his game is that he still has so much to improve.
