Second Manchester United outcast ‘keen’ to follow Jadon Sancho to AS Roma as £70m triple exit closes in

AS Roma have enquired about signing a second Manchester United star amid their talks to secure the transfer of Jadon Sancho.

Manchester United are heading into the final stretch of their summer transfer dealings, with Rúben Amorim determined to further strengthen his squad.

The club have already completed four signings: Matheus Cunha, Diego Leon, Bryan Mbeumo, and most recently striker Benjamin Šeško.

Those additions have cost around £214 million, with Leon the only player to arrive for less than £60 million. Amorim is still eager to bring in a midfielder and a goalkeeper.

Carlos Baleba had been his top midfield target, but Brighton have made it clear the 21-year-old will not be sold this summer. United have therefore put their pursuit on hold until next year and shifted attention to other options.

United in talks for double Roma transfer

To fund Amorim’s search for a new midfielder, they must sanction sales, one of which appears likely to be Jadon Sancho’s move to AS Roma.

According to various reports, while the two clubs have agreed on a fee of around £20 million, United’s talks with Roma are centring around whether this will be a straight transfer or a loan with an obligation to buy next summer.

Although wages are yet to be agreed, Roma are reportedly confident that they will reach a compromise on personal terms with the winger, which will smooth the process and finalise his transfer away from United.

However, amid talks with Roma surrounding Sancho, the Serie A side are said to have also enquired about signing outcast Tyrell Malacia, too.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Roma have inquired about the conditions of a potential move for Malacia, with the player himself keen on the transfer.

United could earn £70m from Serie A sides

While Sancho’s possible move to Rome will see United earn around £20 million, it’s less clear what the demands would be for Malacia.

However, with the player’s amortisation value very low, it’s reasonable to assume that the club will probably demand a fee of around £5-10 million for the former Dutch international.

But the most interesting possible United exit to Italy this summer is, in fact, Rasmus Højlund’s. The striker is currently at the centre of talks between United and AC Milan for a loan deal that would see a £5 million fee paid to United, as well as Milan taking on Højlund’s wages.

Milan are also reportedly keen to include a buy option of just under £40 million in the deal, too. If all three moves are completed and become permanent transfers within 12 months, this could result in United recouping around £70 million.
