Everton manager Sean Dyche has sent out a transfer message to the likes of Manchester United about the talented defender Jarrad Branthwaite.

Branthwaite, 21, started for Everton at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon as United won 2-0 and clawed their way closer to their Champions League challenging opponents.

The English defender provided a solid account of himself, as he has done all season for The Toffees.

He has been heavily linked to a move to the Manchester club, and UtdDistrict understands that he is the favourite option for the left centre-back position in the summer transfer window.

However, after the defeat against Erik ten Hag’s side on Saturday, Dyche made his stance clear on the defender’s future, stating that he wants the club to keep him next season.

“We don’t want to sell any good players,” said the Everton boss. “It’s as simple as that and he’s proven to be a very good player. We’re not in the business of trying to sell players.

“You only sell players if you have to sell players or there’s a problem. There’s no problem, therefore I’m just hoping we don’t need to sell players. At the minute, we certainly don’t so we will see.”

Everton have recently saw their 10-point deduction for FFP breaches reduced to six points.

Branthwaite has picked up a key partnership with the experienced defender James Tarkowski at Goodison Park this season.

“He’s adapted well,” added Dyche. “There are things he still needs to work on, but you unravel a player slowly, you can’t just fast-track everything into them and say ‘that’s it’. So while he’s developing nicely and while he’s learning, sometimes the hardest thing is not to coach at all when you just step away and go ‘no, no, you’re fine, you keep doing what you’re doing’.

“There’s the odd little team, tactical pointers, but I’m not breaking it down every game and saying ‘you’ve got to do this, you’ve got to do that’. Let him naturally learn as he develops.”

The 21-year-old defender spent the 2022/23 campaign on loan at PSV, working under former United striker Ruud van Nistlerooy.
