One scout has revealed an ‘incredible’ strength that Senne Lammens possesses and it will be useful for him at Manchester United.
Despite adding Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, and Benjamin Šeško to strengthen their attack, Manchester United’s defensive frailties remain a major concern.
Both Altay Bayındır and André Onana have struggled with costly errors in goal, prompting the club to seek reinforcements between the posts.
United have now reached an agreement with Royal Antwerp to sign Belgian goalkeeper Senne Lammens in a deal worth an initial £18 million, with the 23-year-old chosen ahead of Aston Villa’s Emi Martínez.
Lammens has completed his medical at Carrington and put pen to paper on a long-term contract before the transfer window closed on Monday evening.
Scout reveals ‘incredible’ strength Lammens possesses
Most United fans will not know much about Lammens apart from the fact he’s a highly-rated young goalkeeper. The 23-year-old came through the Club Brugge academy.
Club Brugge’s former scout Bart Tamsyn has explained the shot-stoppers strengths and weaknesses in a column for transfermarkt.
“Lammens has an incredibly strong mentality and remains calm in all circumstances,” Tamsyn said. “He also proved last season that he has real goalkeeping qualities, as no one made more saves in the Jupiler Pro League than he did.
“In addition, Lammens is a goalkeeper who looks for the footballing solution and is comfortable with both his right and left foot.
“To be truly top-class, he just needs to improve his accuracy. He dares to make a mistake every game, usually because he still lacks experience in certain situations.
“These are usually minor mistakes, such as a poor kick, but a few have led to goals being conceded due to a misplaced pass or misjudgement of the situation. However, given that he has only just completed his first season as first-choice goalkeeper, he certainly has room for improvement.”
Lammens must be mentally strong to succeed at United
Two of the most difficult positions to play in football are as Manchester United’s number nine and Manchester United’s number one.
Lammens can have all of the ability in the world, but the ‘incredibly strong mentality’ which x mentions will be more important than any of it.
Onana was considered a world-class goalkeeper before he arrived at Old Trafford but he has shown that he can’t deal with scrutiny of being at United.

Despite the Cameroon international talking the talk, he seems to always crumble when a mistake comes along.
No one is expecting Lammens to make zero mistakes, but he will hopefully be able to deal with them when they come and learn from them. That is what United’s current options have been unable to do.
