Ruud van Nistelrooy has been urged to accept a job from a Premier League side despite his application to manage Coventry City after leaving Manchester United.

Ruud van Nistelrooy‘s stint at Manchester United came to an abrupt end earlier this week after just five months, following the arrival of Rúben Amorim as the new head coach.

The former Dutch striker had joined the club in July as part of a significant overhaul of Erik ten Hag’s coaching team. However, his future was cast into doubt after Ten Hag was dismissed last month.

In his short spell, Van Nistelrooy oversaw four matches with United’s first team, notching two wins against Leicester City, a victory over PAOK, and a draw against Chelsea in the Premier League.

But with Amorim now in charge, the club confirmed on Monday that Van Nistelrooy and three other backroom staff members would be leaving their posts.

Ruud’s Premier League chance

Despite having reportedly applied to manager Championship side Coventry City, talkSPORT co-host Jennings believes securing the job at West Ham would suit the Dutchman perfectly.

“I can’t see a world where Ruud van Nistelrooy isn’t considered for a Premier League job,” he said. “You can’t honestly believe that he’s going to dip into the Championship.”

He continued: “I think West Ham is actually the perfect club. If you think about what West Ham fans are in need of at the moment.

“If you think about the way that they are feeling and I think the way that they’ve been short changed by their ownership.

“I think Ruud van Nistelrooy is a tonic. Ruud van Nistelrooy is exactly what they were demanding.

“It’s the sort of appointment that West Ham fans not only demanded, but that West Ham fans deserved off the back of their protests about David Moyes leaving the club.”

Lopetegui in trouble

Although West Ham’s manager Julen Lopetegui is still in his position, many fans have called for the Spanish manager to be sacked.

After West Ham chose to let go of former United boss David Moyes, Hammers fans were outraged. Their poor start to the season, which has left them sitting 14th in the league table, has only compounded these woes.

The London Stadium was the venue for Erik ten Hag’s final game in charge of United, and it feels as if Lopetegui is on the edge of facing the same fate.

With Ruud van Nistelrooy keen to secure another managerial job as soon as possible, West Ham could be the perfect place to show off his talent in the Premier League.
