Ruud van Nistelrooy waxes lyrical about Manchester United star who makes Ruben Amorim’s team “better”

Leicester City boss and Manchester United legend Ruud van Nistelrooy has waxed lyrical about one of Ruben Amorim’s star men.
Manchester United appear to have turned a corner in recent fixtures. Ruben Amorim’s team impressed in both Europa League encounters against Real Sociedad, as well as in their Premier League clash with Arsenal in between.
While the improvements have been gradual, they are starting to show more consistently. The Reds have secured a place in the Europa League quarter-finals and are beginning to build momentum.
The key now is to maintain that progress. A strong performance and victory against Leicester City this weekend would be crucial in keeping their confidence high.
With the international break approaching, this match presents a valuable opportunity for United to sustain their morale ahead of potential injury returns next month.
Van Nistelrooy waxes lyrical about United star
United will once again be facing their former player and interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy, who took charge of four games earlier this season after Erik ten Hag was sacked.
Funnily enough, two of those matches were against Leicester, making this the fourth time Van Nistelrooy will take charge of this fixture in one season – but managing each side twice in that time.
The United legend has been speaking about United’s recent improvements in his pre-match press conference and sung the praises of Bruno Fernandes.
Van Nistelrooy highlighted the recent impact the Portuguese captain has made at Old Trafford just after his hat-trick in the Europa League.
“It’s a great boost [for them] they are in the quarter-finals of the Europa League,” said Van Nistelrooy on Friday afternoon.
“Bruno [Fernandes] is in great form, scoring a hat-trick and then scored the free-kick against Arsenal, so very decisive in that team.
“So, it’s a team that I think got some momentum going, especially after yesterday. It’s definitely a team that is in a better place than when we played them in the FA Cup.”
Fernandes and Casemiro building midfield relationship
Fernandes has often been stationed closer to goal since his 2020 move to Old Trafford but since Amorim took charge he has been a regular feature as part of a two-man midfield.
Alongside Casemiro in recent games, the pair are seemingly building a nice relationship, especially with the Brazilian having a less-important pressing role.

The most important attribute shown in that time from the midfield pair is their on-ball ability. Fernandes is not the only one finding decisive passes – Casemiro’s brilliant long-ball led to the first penalty against Sociedad earlier this week.
Manuel Ugarte has returned from injury at the beginning of the week but Amorim looks set to continue with Casemiro and Fernandes in the engine room for now.
