Ruud van Nistelrooy sends Rúben Amorim clear message about Manchester United job role
Ruud van Nistelrooy has sent Rúben Amorim a clear message as the Portuguese manager is set to become Manchester United’s new head coach.
Manchester United are quickly advancing plans to appoint Rúben Amorim as their new Head Coach after dismissing Erik ten Hag.
The decision to part ways with Ten Hag came on the heels of United’s 2-1 defeat to West Ham, where a contentious penalty, converted by Jarrad Bowen, secured the win for the Hammers.

United officially announced Ten Hag’s departure on Monday morning, with media speculation quickly following. By evening, reports confirmed Sporting CP’s Rúben Amorim as United’s top target, with terms reportedly agreed.
While United finalise Amorim’s release from Sporting, Ruud van Nistelrooy has taken the reins as interim manager, guiding the team to a 5-2 victory over Leicester City in his debut match.
Ruud’s clear message
Speaking in his pre-Chelsea press conference, Van Nistelrooy explained that he wants to stay at United once Amorim joins as he loves the club. There have been reports that the 39-year-old will bring in his own backroom staff to Carrington.
“I’m guessing that too, so yes,” Van Nistelrooy said when it was suggested to him he would remain in charge against Chelsea. “It’s going to be a short job as an interim, that was communicated very clear and I was happy with that.
“I felt I was called upon to help the club forward in this situation. Obviously, it was difficult that Erik had to leave. I was very disappointed, obviously with very mixed feelings about that, but you have to switch the mindset to win because 75,000 people are waiting and celebrating, and millions are watching at home. That’s what we tried to do, same for Sunday and then we’ll see.
“I decided to come back here for a very important reason that I’m here. I came as an assistant to help the club forward and I’m still very motivated to do so in any capacity.
“As an assistant, and now as an interim manager, and after that I go back to my assistant contract that I have here for this season and next.
“I’m very motivated to stay here and help the club forward, that’s my absolute goal.”
