Manchester United star could explode with Ruud van Nistelrooy coaching player ‘just like him’
Manchester United’s Rasmus Højlund has been tipped to become even better, with Ruud van Nistelrooy to join Erik ten Hag’s coaching staff.
Rasmus Højlund‘s debut season at Manchester United was a rollercoaster, marked by impressive goals but bouts of inconsistent form between such moments.
He ended the season as the club’s top scorer, netting 16 goals across all competitions, with five of those coming in the Champions League. Additionally, he played a key role in United’s FA Cup triumph across the campaign.

His recent performances have generated optimism as he represents Denmark in the 2024 European Championships. Despite the immense pressure that came with his £72 million transfer from Atalanta at just 20 years old, Højlund showcased his talent and justified the hefty price tag.
With his debut season completed, many fans are excited about the prospect of him continuing to improve over the next few seasons, and a huge move from INEOS could help him explode.
The club are reportedly set to sign legendary Old Trafford striker Ruud van Nistelrooy as part of Erik ten Hag’s coaching staff at United. Van Nistelrooy scored 150 goals in just 219 appearances at the club, cementing himself as one of the most prolific forwards United have ever employed.
His footballing brilliance has now transcended into management, having managed PSV Eindhoven in the Eredivisie, and despite interest from Burnley for their manager role, it seems that he is set to accept the role as Ten Hag’s assistant at Old Trafford.
Speaking back in February, former Chelsea and Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas drew similarities between the pair.
“He (Højlund) attacks the box really well; he’s very smart,” Fabregas told the BBC back in February.
“He’s a kind of Van Nistelrooy type of finisher when he gets his confidence. I believe he can be a really top striker for United in the future.
“When you have this plus a very good player one-on-one (Garnacho) who is making crosses all the time, you will always get the best out of him.”
If Van Nistelrooy is given the time to work with Højlund, the Danish international could become one of the deadliest strikers in Europe.
