They currently sit 13th, standing seven points behind fourth-placed Manchester City. Nottingham Forest, on the other hand, have made an impressive start to their season, occupying seventh place.
However, a United win on Saturday afternoon would see them pull level with Forest in the league standings, setting up an intriguing contest.
United’s league position
Speaking to the press on Friday afternoon, Amorim was asked about United’s current league position and explained that although their position is “sad,” it can easily change, which offers a glimmer of hope for fans.
“It’s sad because it’s a very competitive league, [but] it can change with just one result,” Amorim explained to reoprters at United’s Carrington training complex.
“We have to pass this phase, so I feel the same way because before the Arsenal game, you guys were asking about the top four, and now we return to this position.
“We have to remain calm and keep on doing the job we’re doing.”
