Ruben Amorim’s transfer demand has been vindicated after underwhelming displays from two Manchester United players.

Ruben Amorim began his Manchester United tenure with a draw against Ipswich Town, followed by a Europa League victory over Bodo/Glimt earlier this week.

His next challenge is a Premier League clash against Everton, leaving him with limited time on the training ground to prepare.

Despite the tight schedule, the 39-year-old will aim to maximise training sessions at Carrington as he works to fully implement his tactical approach within the squad.

He has also been assessing the players within his squad to see who fits where in the system he has introduced.

Ruben Amorim’s transfer demand

Fabrizio Romano has reported that United are planning to sign a new left-back in 2025 to align with Amorim’s plans.

The club is already assessing potential targets, with reports elsewhere claiming that Amorim has made his mind up that he needs an upgrade, and a shortlist of more than three options has been compiled.

Former United defender Álvaro Fernández is rumored to be a potential candidate for a return, while Alphonso Davies, a target for Real Madrid, is also under consideration.

Romano suggests that the decision on whether to act in the January transfer window or wait until the summer is yet to be decided, though a summer move appears to be the most likely outcome.

Amorim decision already vindicated

So far, both Diogo Dalot and Tyrell Malacia have had underwhelming displays at left wingback in Amorim’s first two games.

Dalot looks less comfortable holding the width and being on the left side, while Malacia is still an uncertain entity after playing his first game in over 500 days. Luke Shaw also looks like he’s more likely to be used in the back three under the new head coach.

It already appears obvious that this is the position that needs strengthening the most and a January move should certainly not be ruled out.

If that doesn’t happen, there could be a serious chance for Harry Amass in the first-team. He has also been linked with Aston Villa in recent weeks.

No matter what happens, it seems clear that Amorim is already working to solve the issue on the left side and the performances of Dalot and Malacia so far have only strengthened his case.
