Ruben Amorim’s stance on Mason Mount transfer as Inter Milan interested in surprise deal
Mason Mount has had torrid luck with injuries since he joined Manchester United in the summer of 2023.
Manchester United secured the surprising signing of Mason Mount from Chelsea almost two years ago for around £50 million.
Fans were not entirely convinced by the midfielder, who received the club’s iconic no.7 shirt on his arrival, and things have not changed since then.
That is mostly because Mount has been unable to prove himself on the pitch. He has played 32 times for the club but started just 13 games for the Old Trafford outfit.
Injuries have defined Mount’s career at United so far and that has led to major questions over his long-term future ahead of the summer window.
Inter interested in Mount deal
United need to sell players in order to secure new players for Ruben Amorim and Mount will certainly not be a player off-limits.
It has been claimed by InterLive that the player’s agents are looking at possible solutions, with a move to Italian giants Inter Milan on the cards.
The report explained that the Serie A club are interested in Mount as a possible replacement for Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who also used to play for United.
However, the Italian side would only be willing to do a deal on an initial loan, with an option to buy the player in the following summer.
Amorim’s stance on Mount
Despite having only played six times since Amorim took the helm, Mount is still a player that the United boss clearly appreciates.
Amorim sung the midfielder’s praises in the early days of his tenure, claiming that he is “perfect” for his system.
“Mason Mount. I have to tell you I love that kid. You can look in his eyes that he wants this so bad, and this is the most important thing for me,” Amorim said in November.

“He played in this system (before), so it’s perfect for him. I have two positions for Mason Mount, so he should be very happy!”
Of course, Amorim will be concerned with Mount’s fitness and injuries, but in a squad where not many players seem to suit the system, he could end up being useful for the head coach.
