Rúben Amorim has been firm in his feelings regarding who he wants sold from his Manchester United squad this summer.
Alejandro Garnacho is among five Manchester United players who appear set to leave the club this summer, after Rúben Amorim ruled him out of his first-team plans.
Pre-season has begun at Carrington, with players like Matheus Cunha and Mason Mount already back, and the rest of the squad due to return on Thursday.
Garnacho, along with Marcus Rashford, Tyrell Malacia, Antony, and Jadon Sancho, has been instructed to stay away from first-team training as they work on securing moves away from Old Trafford. However, the facilities are said to remain open for their individual use, separate from the main group.
The Argentine winger featured 40 times under Amorim last season, but after he publicly questioned Amorim’s decision-making after the Europa League final loss against Tottenham Hotspur, their relationship quickly deteriorated.
Garnacho has not been handed permission to rejoin United
On Thursday, ESPN reported that United had reversed their decision and informed Garnacho that he had permission to return to training under Amorim.
This came just a short while after the 21-year-old left a partially cryptic message on his Instagram page of him sleeping on a private jet with the caption “coming…” in the photo.
However, it has now been confirmed by Manchester World that the above report is false. According to journalist Rich Fay, sources at United insist that his situation remains unchanged.
While the club’s medical and fitness facilities remain open for Garnacho to use, and remote support will continue to be available, he will not be part of Amorim’s first team. The head coach himself has maintained a strong stance that the player will not be part of his plans.
What is the latest on Garnacho’s future?
As per many reports, Garnacho’s ideal move this summer will be one that sees him remain in the Premier League, with a preference to play for a London club.

However, if he wants to secure a move to the capital, the only likely club that could accommodate him is Chelsea. The Blues are set to sell winger Noni Madueke to Arsenal for £52 million, while Tottenham have announced the signing of Mohammed Kudus from West Ham in a £55 million deal.
With Madueke handing Chelsea both an exceptional amount of cash and space in their squad, there is still little guarantee that Enzo Maresca’s side will head in for him.
Elsewhere, there had been interest from Napoli in the winter transfer window, but reports from earlier this week have suggested that the Serie A side are no longer interested.
