Leny Yoro made yet another positive impact for Manchester United after coming off the bench to earn a draw against Liverpool at Anfield.

Manchester United battled to a 2-2 draw against Premier League leaders Liverpool in an entertaining encounter at Anfield this weekend.

Lisandro Martínez opened the scoring for United with a brilliant strike, but Cody Gakpo swiftly equalised for Liverpool.

A controversial VAR decision awarded the hosts a penalty for a De Ligt handball, which Mo Salah converted to give Liverpool the lead.

United responded with an equaliser from Amad Diallo, and Harry Maguire came close to snatching a late winner but narrowly missed the target.

While Ruben Amorim praised his team’s performance, he also voiced frustration over the fact that they had not shown the same levels in recent defeats against the so-called lesser sides.

Yoro’s world class moment vs Liverpool

One absolutely positive that Amorim can take from that game is the performance of Leny Yoro, who was introduced as a second half substitute.

It is difficult for any player to come off the bench in a tight game at Anfield, let alone a 19-year-old defender, but the Frenchman looked extremely comfortable in the game.

He was impressive on the ball, with a 100% pass completion rate, and worked tirelessly both ways, showing his incredible athleticism.

With the game tied at 2-2, the teenager produced a wonderful sliding challenge in United’s box to deny Darwin Nunez in the 90th minute, a tackle described as ‘world class’.

The 19-year-old had ran the length of the pitch to match the run of the Liverpool forward, as shown in the video below.

Amorim is very happy with Yoro impact

Amorim has started Yoro just three times in his first 12 games but it is clear that the defender will be a key player for the head coach in the long-term.

After Yoro’s impactful performance on Sunday, Fabrizio Romano provided the latest reaction from the United boss on the youngster.

“Rúben Amorim and his staff are very happy with Leny Yoro and his development,” the Italian journalist wrote on X.

“Game time being managed now after long injury but club and staff very happy with Leny. He’s among few untouchable players at Man United.”
