Ruben Amorim’s perfect Man Utd signing could happen after Bryan Mbeumo with surprise deal in ‘advanced’ stages

Manchester United are close to reaching an agreement for the signing of Bryan Mbeumo while another surprise deal is reported at the ‘advanced’ stages.

It is crucial for Manchester United to strengthen their squad this summer with some quality additions and the initial priority has been the frontline.

Matheus Cunha is already through the door and it looks like a deal for Bryan Mbeumo is going to be completed too. After that, the Reds will target a natural striker but need to raise funds for that deal.

Once the frontline is complete, Ruben Amorim wants the club to strengthen in midfield. The media line is that the Portuguese boss wants an ‘athletic’ player in the engine room.

The feasibility of signing someone to slot into the starting team seems low considering the majority of the summer budget looks like it will be spent on the frontline.

Casemiro exit allows Amorim to strengthen United midfield

Casemiro looked destined to stay at Old Trafford for one more season but the latest reports suggest that a move away could be on the cards for the Brazilian.

Reports from Sport have claimed that Al Nassr are in advanced talks with United to sign Casemiro this summer. It was previously suggested that Cristiano Ronaldo wanted the Saudi team to bring his former teammate to the club.

If this deal goes through, it would likely not be for more than £20 million in terms of transfer fee but United would get a major financial boost by getting Casemiro’s wages off the books. He is the highest-paid player at the club.

That would open up a lot of room to spent on a midfielder who could come straight into Amorim’s best eleven, rather than simply offering depth to the squad.

The perfect midfield options for United this summer

So far this summer, United have been looking at a lot of Premier League-proven players and they are likely to do the same when considering midfield players.

If the club are able to supplement a potential Casemiro sale with another couple of departures, they could be ambitious and try to pry away Adam Wharton or Carlos Baleba from Crystal Palace or Brighton respectively.

Although both of those players would certainly cost somewhere close to the £100 million-mark and a deal would be difficult even with extra sales.

Other slightly cheaper options include the likes of Amadou Onana from Aston Villa, Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest or Douglas Luiz from Juventus – and those kind of deals would be a lot more viable if this Casemiro move materialises.
