Ruben Amorim’s first January move has been detailed as one Manchester United star is set for a Premier League swap.

New Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has been getting to work at Old Trafford and has already managed his first five games in charge.

Despite mixed results – winning twice, drawing once and losing the other two– Amorim has been able to start implementing his new-look system.

The 39-year-old has also been able to begin assessing the players within his squad and looking ahead to what he needs to improve things in upcoming transfer windows.

Ruud van Nistelrooy wanted to stay under Amorim as an assistant coach but has since moved on to manage Leicester City after the new head coach decided against keeping him.

After a positive start to life at The Foxes, Van Nistelrooy is keen to do business with the Reds in order to help his situation at the tail-end of the table.

According to The Sun, the United legend is set to raid his former club to improve his Leicester City squad by signing Toby Collyer on loan.

It was explained that the ex-United interim manager is planning to use his contacts at Old Trafford to sign the 20-year-old midfielder on loan in the January window.

With the mid-season window approaching, Van Nistelrooy will make a loan bid soon for a player he believes can be a ‘key asset’ in their battle to avoid the drop.

Leicester City currently sit 16th in the Premier League table following a brilliant 3-1 win against West Ham in Van Nistelrooy’s opening fixture.

For Collyer, this would present a great chance to get consistent minutes in the top flight. His role is less prominent than expected after a strong pre-season.

An injury setback was part of the reason for this, but it now seems unlikely that he will be able to push for minutes in Amorim’s team for the rest of the season.

Instead, working under a familiar face in Van Nistelrooy and competing for crucial Premier League minutes at the King Power Stadium could be a great move for the youngster.

It makes sense for all parties involved and could be the first piece of transfer business done under Amorim’s leadership.

Meanwhile, incomings are likely to depend on sales and whether opportunities present themselves to Amorim and the football leadership at Old Trafford.
