Ruben Amorim in line for triple injury boost as Manchester United training resumes

Some members of the Manchester United squad returned to training this week as the international break nears its completion.

Manchester United started to gain some small momentum – with positive results against Arsenal, Real Sociedad and Leicester City – before club football came to a halt for two weeks.

Ruben Amorim will be hoping that his side can continue that positive form when they return to face Nottingham Forest at the beginning of next month.

In the meantime, several United stars have been playing for their national teams across the world. Portugal’s Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot won their Nations League tie against Denmark trio Patrick Dorgu, Christian Eriksen and Rasmus Højlund last week.

Noussair Mazraoui is another who has starred for his county over the last few days, assisting a 90th-minute winner against Niger on Friday night.

Meanwhile, other members of Amorim’s squad have been using this time to either recover from injuries or take some rest ahead of a busy end-of-season schedule.

Amorim in line for triple United injury boost

The United players currently not on international break would have returned to Carrington on Monday morning to get back to work ahead of the Premier League return.

Alejandro Garnacho, who was not selected for Argentina duty, posted a picture on his Instagram story of him wearing his boots in the Carrington changing rooms, captioned: “Back home”.

With players coming back to the training ground, there could be several boosts for Amorim as he meets back up with the side.

Harry Maguire was close to returning to the side before the international break and reports have claimed that he decided against joining the England camp so he could be fully fit for United.

It was also explained when Kobbie Mainoo suffered injury in early February that he could be out of action for around six weeks. That is around about the time which has passed now.

Maguire and Mainoo could be returning to training this week for Amorim, which would be a big boost. Rumours from Sully Sayz on X suggest they both trained on the grass on Monday morning.

Meanwhile, that same account has also claimed that Luke Shaw also took to the training pitch at Carrington as he nears a return from injury.

There has been minimal noise surrounding Shaw since his setback from injury last month, with Amorim recently saying that the left-back would be back “soon”.

Amorim needs fully fit squad for tricky United schedule

Amorim will be hoping to have a fully fit squad heading into a difficult period of fixtures, with the schedule not kind to United when they return to the pitch.

After facing Forest next Tuesday, the Reds have Premier League outings against Manchester City and Newcastle alongside the two legs of their Europa League quarter-final against Lyon.

After showing some positive signs before the break, it is crucial that United do not take backwards steps in these difficult games.

One positive sign is that, despite the inconsistencies under Amorim so far, the Reds have mostly impressed in the more difficult games. That can hopefully continue.
