Ruben Amorim told to sign perfect Manuel Ugarte partner after Manchester United turned down potential transfer

Ruben Amorim has been told to sign the perfect midfield partner for Manuel Ugarte at Manchester United even though the club previously turned down the potential transfer.

Manchester United are looking ahead to the summer transfer window where Ruben Amorim will receive some important signings to strengthen his squad.

It has been reported that the Old Trafford outfit have already identified several priority positions and it is likely that the centre of midfield will be one of them.

Christian Eriksen is set to leave the club in the summer as his contract expires and Casemiro’s future is also uncertain, with potential interest from the Saudi Pro League forthcoming.

It is unclear whether Kobbie Mainoo’s future in Amorim’s system lies in the midfield pivot or further forward as one of the no.10s in the system.

Amorim told Wharton is perfect Ugarte partner

Rio Ferdinand believes that another central midfielder should be signed in the summer window and wants someone to partner Manuel Ugarte.

The ex-United defender has recommended Crystal Palace star Adam Wharton as the perfect signing after his emergence in the Premier League over the last year.

In fact, Ferdinand delivered high praise for the England international and claimed that he is similar to former United teammate Michael Carrick, who was a wonderful midfield player at Old Trafford.

“I want a centre-midfielder to play alongside Ugarte,” the 46-year-old said on his podcast, Rio Ferdinand Presents.

“Adam Wharton. I would go and get him. The reason I would take him is he can get on the ball and transfer it up the pitch, he’s got a great range of passing.

“I think he would be a great addition to the United squad. He reminds me of Michael Carrick a bit.”

United turned down Wharton deal

Wharton is a player who many United supporters are fond of but his signing would almost certainly be out of the club’s budget right now.

Palace are well known to be stubborn negotiators and the midfield player is one of their most highly-rated players. It would be no surprise if he’s valued at over £100 million.

This is made even more frustrating after Andy Mitten revealed earlier this season on the Talk Of The Devils podcast that United had the opportunity to sign Wharton before his Palace move, but rejected the offer.

“Adam Wharton was offered to Manchester United before he moved to Crystal Palace and Manchester United declined,” explained Mitten.

“Adam Wharton lives close to Manchester. I’ve got no evidence that Manchester United are going back in for him. [He has] done exceptionally well at Palace; the people close to him were not surprised at all about that.

“I was told last November, I was with someone out in Manchester who was just raving and raving about him, admittedly someone close to the player.”
